![]() Cutting this or that content might make people go like "all it's lesser as a remake" but the truth is that as a game no remake can touch RE2. Dead Space goes beyond a simply graphic upgrade, but nothing close to REmake 2. Making a game like REmake 2 is much harder, takes much more talent and creativity than 1:1, or "1:1.1" remakes, no matter how technical impressive they are. That's why I think REmake 2 is the best "remake" of them all. They are very different takes on what a remake is, to the point that calling them the same thing is positively misleading. ![]() I believe there is a problem when comparing a remake like Dead Space (or Demon's Souls or The Last of Us) with a "remake" like REmake 2. So, what do you think about DS as a remake, about REmakes, your wishes for upcoming AitD and SH2 remakes, and about various ways of remaking games? I cant wait for AitD and SH2 remakes to join the fray and I find it refreshing, that from now on we will have more examples of horror games remakes. I wonder whether more people now, like Sphere Hunter in the quoted fragment of her review, will start to look at Capcom's work with a more critical eye. I personally was always a bit skeptical about recent RE remakes - RE3make as a remake was for me a complete disaster, and while RE2make is for me a 9/10 game and a good remake, I still feel like some potential was wasted (lack of cohesive story due to the half-assed A/B scenarios implementation is a critical flaw in my opinion). So, while its not a 1:1 remake that only settles for "graphical updates", it remains extremely faithful to its source material and instead of cutting and butchering some of its defining parts (like RE3make or even RE2make did), it introduces changes that help with strengthening these parts. ![]() ![]() Dead Space remake not only has high production value, not only reimagines certain parts of game to realize their full potential (interconnected map, breaking the asteroids part, connecting the story with the sequels, giving more depth to the characters etc), not only retains basically everything that was in the original game, but on top of this all it also expands game and introduces bunch of new content. ![]()
